Arts + Leadership
Art
We had 16 students place (11 first place and 5 second place) at the SC State Fair. (October 2025)
Chorus and Theater
The “Spooktacular Showcase” performance featured props and choreography. It was our first student-led concert. (October 2025)
NHS Chorus raised $4,460 for new risers through a district-wide production of Newsies Jr., working with NMS, MCMS, and MCHS performing arts. (December 2025)
Band
The Blue Brigade visited local elementaries to perform for future Bulldogs. (October 2025)
The Winter Concert was held at the Opera House. (December 9, 2025)
SGA
Participated in the Jaycee’s annual Shop with a Hero in December.
Participated in the annual Angel Tree, sponsoring two children from the community.
SGA and NHS marked their third Hispanic Heritage Month celebration with a presentation at NHS and a community presentation at Newberry College.
Athletics
Football team went undefeated in the regular season and won the region championship.
The following individuals were selected by the South Carolina Football Coaches Association:
Coach Cedrick Jeter – AAA Lower State Coach of the Year
Brian Redd – AAA Lower State Assistant Coach of the Year
Elijah Sanders – AAA Lineman of the Year
Volleyball team finished 3rd in the region and hosted a playoff game.
Girls Tennis won region championship.
Jamel Howse was selected and participated in the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas.
Coach Art Boozer and Jamere Crooks were selected and participated in the North-South All-Star Football Game.
Kenton Caldwell scored his 1,000th point as a Bulldog basketball player on Dec. 12 vs. Mid-Carolina.

Ms. Hart has been at NHS for 10 years as our Athletic Trainer, as part of the Physical Education Department. She is also a cheer coach and a fill-in for the department as needed. Her nominations included, “Her dedication, work ethic, and willingness to do whatever is needed keep our athletic programs running smoothly. She is dependable, passionate, and an invaluable part of our school.” Thank you for being #BulldogBuilt, Ms. Hart!

Sgt. Flores is our campus substitute, and he has been working at NHS for 4 years. Sgt. Flores is a founding sponsor of the NHS Hispanic Ambassadors Club and serves as a bilingual translator. His nominations included, “I appreciate Sgt. Flores so much. His willingness to translate for me during registration was a blessing. The Senior Parent Informational Night that was originally scheduled for tonight, September 9th, has been moved to Tuesday, September 23rd at 5:30 PM. We appreciate your flexibility with this schedule change.

After School Tutoring Begins September 2, 2025!Tutoring is from 3:30-4:30 in the NHS Library Media Center. Monday tutoring subjects are Social Studies and Science. Tuesday is English tutoring. Thursday is Math tutoring. Tutoring MAY also be counted as seat time. Please see administration for details. There are new state guidelines schools must follow for seat time makeup for this year.

The School District of Newberry County is participating in the CEP provision this school year. This provision allows us to feed all students breakfast and lunch at no cost.
